Application
The Shiro Abhyanga Ritual
In Ayurveda, an oil scalp massage is known as *Shiro Abhyanga*—*Shiro* meaning head, and *Abhyanga* referring to nourishing touch with oil. It is one of Ayurveda’s oldest care practices and part of *Dinacharya*, the daily self-care ritual. Performing it once a week yields the best results.
01 Dispense four to five drops of Hair Elixir into your palms and warm briefly. Use more for longer or very thick hair—apply sparingly to avoid weighing the hair down.
02 Begin by massaging the scalp—using your fingertips to make small, circular motions from the crown toward the sides. The scalp is the origin of the hair; caring for it means caring for the roots.
03 Work any remaining oil from your hands through the lengths and ends. Particularly dry or porous ends benefit from a little extra oil.
04 Leave on for at least 30 minutes—or overnight for more intensive nourishment. Then wash out with a mild shampoo. The hair feels nourished and supple.
